Why do you get new patients to watch a video at their first 2 appointments?

Here at EBC one of our core values is EMPOWERING. We strive to provide our patients with the education they need to empower them to succeed in their wellbeing goals.

We have specially chosen our 2 videos to educate and inform you about the role of Chiropractic care and what you can do to improve your hauora (wellbeing) and quality of life.

These are staged to give you more information as your understanding of Chiropractic improves.

Do you offer any Family discounts?

Yes, we do! We love to see whole families receiving the benefits of Chiropractic care! We offer a 5% discount to families when they come in together to be adjusted. For more information ask one of our Chiropractic Assistants.

Do you offer a discount for paying in advance?

Yes. We have Concession cards available. When you pay for 12 chiropractic visits in advance we give you 1 x Neurological Scan (Valued at $65) complimentary and you are saving $2 per chiropractic visit . For terms and conditions click here.

Can I bring my baby/kids with me to my appointment?

We are a family practice so we welcome the whole family! We have a awesome toy area and our Chiropractic Assistants are great with kids and they love baby snuggles! So, if you need to bring the whole family along, please do.

We also have a change table and comfy area to feed babies for our breast-feeding mummies.

Just a note, your first appointment is generally about 1 hour long so sometimes this one can be easier without kids.

Why are some of your rooms open to the waiting area?

We have 2 semi-open plan consult rooms and 2 closed consult room. There is method to our madness, we believe that having room to ‘breathe’ when being adjusted is important.

We also think it is nice when families come to get checked, the kids can move from the consult room to the toy area easily and parents can still 'keep an ear out’ while they, or other siblings receive their care.  

If you feel you would rather be checked in one of our closed-door rooms, please let your Chiropractic Assistant or Chiropractor know at the start of your visit and we will do our best to accommodate this.

How often will I need to come?

At EBC we tailor a specific care plan to suit you and your needs. Care plans are put in place after your initial appointment. Your Chiropractor will make a recommendation to you based on their findings and what they think will help you to reach your health goals.

If you are new to chiropractic care an adjustment usually lasts for about 24-48 hours, so you will need to be seen more frequently during the initial stages of your care.

As your body begins to ‘hold’ the adjustments longer we will then begin to gradually space out your appointments with the intention of finding your ‘sweet spot’; this is when you can go somewhere between 3-8 weeks between adjustments.

Why do you X-ray some patients?

Chiropractors can learn a lot about your spine by using their hands, and chiropractic exams but there is no substitute for having a visual representation of the spine and exactly what condition it is in.

X-rays help us to identify the extent of any degenerative change that may have occurred over time, any postural changes to the spine, and to rule in/out certain pathologies (disease) and anomalies that may mean we can’t adjust certain areas (contraindications) or require modification to the way your chiropractor will adjust your spine.

At Eastern Bay Chiropractic we have onsite digital x-ray facilities so we can take your x-ray on the spot allowing faster turnaround time for care. We are the only chiropractic practice in Whakatane with x-ray facilities. Any imaging will only be considered where clinically justified, in line with current legislation and guidelines. Infants, children and pregnant mums are not x-rayed unless clinically justified.

What is your Cancellation policy?

We ask that you give us plenty of time (more than 12 hour’s notice) for any changes so that we can attempt to replace your booking. We run a wait list and more often than not your booking can be easily filled with adequate notice.

Cancellations and reschedules within 12 hours of your appointment or failure to attend you will incur a fee of $31.00.
